Ladies, meet So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) Second Place Winner 23-year-old Royal Princess Sasha Mallory of Bakersfield, California. Her dance specialties fall in the categories of Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Hip-Hop. Sasha began dancing at the age of approximately 5-years. She says most of her on-stage performances are results of improv. If you missed Sasha during her run on the show’s eighth season, then you missed quite a bit. Her versatility dance style is intoxicating. Although she was in the bottom too many times, it wasn’t because of her dancing, it was because most voters preferred others. It’s horrible when someone like Sasha had to depend on bogus phone calls to try and prove her natural skills. Nevertheless, she endured the downfalls bestowed upon her and the audience, week-after-week, saw the energy and determination from this young lady spill out on that stage. We’re posting three of her performances, so please, enjoy.

Sasha & Twitch – Hip Hop (Misty Blue)
Sasha & Alexander – Paso Doble
Now, meet 19-year-old Melanie Moore of Marietta, Georgia. She recalls dancing since the age of two. Her dance specialty is contemporary. However, aside from dancing, Melanie says that she is a trained singer, painter, and artist. She also admits that in reality and amongst her family and friend, she is an extrovert but portrays the facade of an introvert. She says her quietness is mainly due to her nervousness on stage. Melanie is currently attending Fordham University in New York as a freshman. She is also the voted winner of the 8th Season of So You Think You Can Dance 2011.

Drum roll, please. This is Brooklyn-born, Detroit-raised Sonya Tayeh. This Lady is one of the most awesome and creative choreographers out there in the entertainment field. She has an incredible style of dance. Sonya is responsible for the choreography of the first video [above] with Sasha & Melanie on So You Think You Can Dance episode. Though I am always preoccupied with other energetic matters with the universe, my passion has always been dance and art, and I know great dancing and dancers when I see them. This season and seasons previous to this one, have brought to the forefront some great talents. I was routing for 19-year-old Ricky Jaime of Miami, Florida. However, he could not have possibly out-danced Sasha Mallory nor Melanie Moore for the win. Nevertheless, he was my favorite male dancer this season.
Good luck to you all as all of you are winners because you were the ones who were talented enough to make it far into the competition amongst thousands of others.
Kudos to Sonya Tayeh for her exquisite expertise in keeping me fascinated with her work.
Sasha and Melanie, it is my hope that you will not fade into the background, but instead will be as visible as Twitch has been doing. He’s all over the place. Find out his secret and make it yours, too.
