Mary J Blige – Family Affair

Mary J. Blige was born in The Bronx, New York on January 11, 1971. She is the second of four children born to parents Cora and Thomas Blige. Mary’s father who was a jazz musician, taught her how to sing. Unfortunately, when she was only four years old, her father abandoned the family. Mary spent her early years in Richmond Hill, Georgia, where she sang in a Pentecostal church. She later moved to Slobaum Houses in Yonkers, New York, where she lived with her mother, older sister, five cousins, and two aunts. She dropped out of Roosevelt High School in the eleventh grade. Her entertainment genre include: R&B, Rap, Pop & Gospel. Her other talents are songwriter, record producer, and actress.
